There’s a new Bella on the fashion scene.
Bella Kidman Cruise — yes, daughter of Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise — is dipping her toes into the fashion realm, too. However, unlike her celeb-spawn counterparts, who have essentially taken over the world of modeling, the 25-year-old is taking a more behind-the-scenes role.
In January, Kidman Cruise launched the t-shirt line called BKC, which features her hand-drawn characters on simple navy or white tees. (Side bar: It’s interesting that she chose to feature “Kidman” so prominently in the brand name, considering she and her famous mom are reportedly estranged.)
“Bella has been an artist her entire life,” reads a statement on her website. “Her go-to medium is marker on paper with her inspiration for her artwork drawn largely from friends, fashion, and music. It has been a life-long dream of Bella’s to put her art onto clothing; her brand new t-shirt collection is the first glimpse in the realization of this dream, with many more to come in the near future.”
The monochromatic designs include abstracted portraits of curly-haired ladies and a bug-eyed monster reminiscent of Krumm from the (scarring) 1990s children’s show, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters. At $85 a piece, the six tees are a bit pricey for rayon and spandex crewnecks, but you’ve got to respect the artist’s work, right?
Kidman Cruise, who was adopted by her famous parents in 1993, has, for the most part, stayed out of the spotlight — not an easy feat for someone who grew up with not one but two of the most recognizable last names in Hollywood. In 2015, her quiet wedding to Max Parker made a bit of a splash, and she and her brother Connor Kidman Cruise (also adopted) cropped up again in January when Nicole Kidman left them out of her acceptance speech for her Golden Globe Award. The family is reportedly not on speaking terms due to the children’s involvement with the Church of Scientology.
