Billy Bush and his wife, Sydney Davis, are splitting up after nearly 20 years of marriage.
A representative confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter with the following statement: “They have separated for the moment to evaluate their life together. They love each other and their children deeply and are committed to a bright future.”
According to a statement from Bush’s lawyer Marshall Grossman given to Page Six, which first broke the news, the split is not a result of infidelity. He also states that the separation is “a short-term break.”
The news comes almost one year after the infamous Access Hollywood tape was leaked to The Washington Post in which Bush, 45, can be heard participating in a lewd conversation with then-reality TV star Donald Trump. It was the would-be president who was recorded bragging with his now-infamous “grab them by the pussy” comments, but it was Bush who took the professional hit. He lost his job on NBC’s Today, and thereafter elected to take a considerable leave from the public eye.
In the months that followed the tape and the election, Bush has spent time with his wife and daughters while working on himself. That included time spent with spiritual guru Tony Robbins, a stint at Napa Valley healing retreat Hoffman Institute, yoga, meditation, boxing, travel and lots of reading. Just this week, he posted on Instagram that he was reading The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck. Other recent books include Resilience: Hard-Won Wisdom for Living a Better Life by Eric Greitens and The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.
In his first interview since the scandal, Bush sat down for a cover story with The Hollywood Reporter in May and he said at the time how much he enjoyed the family time with Sydney and their daughters Lillie, Mary and Josie. He also praised his wife for standing by him: “She knows very well the person she married. She has been very supportive from the very beginning.”
He last shared a photo with Sydney in July, posting a close-up of them on the beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Bush and Davis married in 1998.
