Following in the footsteps of Givenchy with their unprecedented move to make its spring 2016 show more accessible, four designers showing at the upcoming London Fashion Week are offering the general public a chance to view their fall collections first hand.
Emilia Wickstead, Mary Katrantzou, Temperley London and Holly Fulton will each be given a day to re-stage their fall 2016 shows two to four times for ticket holders to London Fashion Weekend, an event immediately following LFW in which “you can explore the life of the fashion insider, shop the best designer collections and speak to industry experts about their journey to the top,” as described by their website.

The biannual event, with tickets ranging in price from $28 to $208, was launched by The British Fashion Council in 1998 to help designers clear their merchandise, but has since morphed into a consumer-focused event. In addition to the runway shows, the weekend will feature designer talks, shopping galleries and trends presentations.
In the most high-profile attempt from the fashion industry to engage with the consumer directly, Givenchy offered 820 free tickets to the general public to their spring 2016 show. The Council of Fashion Designers of America has since made a concerted effort to increase the general public’s access to the fashion world, even recently commissioning Boston Consulting Group to explore the possibilities.
