Bruno Mars first caught Donatella Versace’s eye when he performed at the Met Gala in 2012. “I fell in love with Bruno,” the designer told Billboard in an interview earlier this year. “He is like an explosion on the stage, so energetic and so totally natural.”
The affection, it seems, is mutual. Mars has taken to wearing bold pieces by the Italian luxury brand for everything from high-profile performances to his own music videos, proving every time that he’s got just the right flair to pull off even the loudest of pieces.
Here are five of Mars’ best Versace-laden looks, from the red carpet to the Super Bowl.

When performing alongside a major fashion figure like Beyonce, not just any old outfit will do. Mars made sure to bring his fashion A-game to halftime of Super Bowl 50 by dressing in a black leather look, which featured Versace signatures like gold Medusa buttons and Greek key trim. As Bey would say, he slayed.
“When you’re making a look that will be seen by millions all over the world, you need a message that’s bold and strong,” Versace told Billboard. “As with many things in fashion, we had to work fast, but it was so much fun to create.”

“Uptown Funk,” Mars’ get-out-of-your-seat-and-start-grooving 2015 hit with Mark Ronson, won the award for best male video at the MTV VMAs that year. Mars accepted the award in a groovy black and gold Versace shirt, accessorized with gold chains, dark sunglasses and a black hat, proving that the funkiness of his music transfers easily to his fashion.

Mars’ latest music video shows the singer basking in a life of luxury, claiming, “I’m a dangerous man with some money in my pocket.” As Mars and his squad live it up in Las Vegas, they make clear that Versace is part of their vision of the good life by sporting flashy vintage bombers, shirts and even silk pajamas by the brand.

Mars was spotted on the street wearing yet another iconic Versace bomber while making the rounds to promote “24K Magic.” Worn with a red t-shirt, black jeans and Versace loafers, Mars made the wildly patterned jacket look bold, but not over the top.
The “Just the Way You Are” singer took to Instagram to document his favorite bling, which featured a cross necklace, a Chanel logo chain and a Versace Medusa pendant that he’s been spotted in on several occasions — all in gold, of course. Because who needs subtlety when you could have shine?
