Carrie Underwood on Wednesday took to Instagram to announce that she is expecting a second child with her husband Mike Fisher.
While reminding fans about her upcoming album Cry Pretty in an Instagram video, she revealed that she will be going on tour to promote the album in 2019.
“You might be wondering or asking, ‘Carrie, why is your tour starting in May?'” she said as the camera zoomed out and revealed balloons that spelled out “baby” behind her. Underwood is dressed in a pink jacket and sits in front of a pink backdrop in the clip.
The couple already share 3-year-old son Isaiah Michael. “Mike and Isaiah and I are absolutely over the moon and excited to be adding a little fish to our pond,” said Underwood.
“This has just been a dream come true with album and baby news and all that stuff,” she continued. “We’re so excited and just so glad you guys can share in this with us and be a part of this with us. Love you guys! We will see you on the road in 2019.”
The country singer previously discussed her plans to have more children while gracing the cover of Redbook‘s September cover. “I’m 35, so we may have missed our chance to have a big family,” she said. “We always talk about adoption and about doing it when our child or children are a little older.”
Underwood received backlash following the comments. While some fans argued that the singer is at a perfect place in her life both professionally and financially to have more kids, others criticized her for not acknowledging a number of options regarding her fertility, including IVF treatment.
