The Chris Brown social media saga was the hottest talk of Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, as the singer became embroiled in a scandal in which he was accused of pointing a gun at a woman in his home. In the midst of all the rumors swirling, Brown took to Instagram to set the record straight about the situation and refute reports about his guilt.
But while fans hung on Brown’s rather provocative words to the police, we couldn’t help but notice the brand of his beanie which the singer chose to flaunt in front of the camera: Balmain. (Because, obviously, designer labels are a must while bragging about your mansion in Tarzana during a social media rant.)
The black beanie appears to be from the 2015 Balmain x H&M collection. Priced at $17.99 — and the cheapest item in the collection — it was the first item to sell out on the floor when the line was released. You can now find the piece on eBay for upwards of $200.
Brown has long been tied to the French fashion house, even cultivating a relationship with creative director Olivier Rousteing. The pair are so tight, in fact, that there had been rumors about the two being a couple — which Brown, again, refuted.
Regardless of his ties to Balmain, however, we can’t imagine that this is the celebrity endorsement the French fashion house had been hoping for.
