The New York fashion media world is catching up to Hollywood when it comes to handing out awards.
Now in its third year, the annual Daily Front Row Fashion Media Awards have become one of the best places for editors, models, stars and designers to come together — it’s rare they’re all in one room. Last year, awards were given to famed stylist Carine Roitfeld of CR Fashion Book, Vanity Fair editor in chief Graydon Carter, supermodel Naomi Campbell for her social media skills and Kate Upton for Model of the Year. Claire Danes, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Kendall Jenner, Christy Turlington Burns, among other well-known designers and celebs, were also in attendance.
The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively announce that this year’s host will be Scandal‘s Tony Goldwyn — TV’s hottest POTUS (sorry, Kevin Spacey). The awards will be bestowed to the creme de la creme of the fashion media world on Sept. 10 at the Park Hyatt Onyx Room in New York.
See More Happy Birthday, Coco Chanel!
THR is taking home its very first Fashion Media Award in a brand new category: Best Fashion Issue (Hollywood’s Top 25 Stylists, March 2015) of a Non-Fashion Magazine, going to THR and Billboard co-president/chief creative officer Janice Min, THR style editor Carol McColgin and THR senior style writer Merle Ginsberg. Elle editor-in-chief Robbie Myers is receiving the award for Fashion Magazine of the Year. Porter Magazine‘s Lucy Yeoman’s will accept the International Magazine of the Year award. Stephen Gan of VMan is receiving Men’s Magazine of the Year. W‘s Stefano Tonchi will pick up Best September Issue (of a fashion magazine).
Vanity Fair is receiving Scoop of the Year for — what else? — the Caitlyn Jenner cover. Taylor Hill is Model of the Year when it comes to social media. WSJ’s publisher Anthony Cenname is publisher of the year for the WSJ fashion magazine. Business of Fashion’s Imran Amed is receiving the award for Best Digital Destination. And Orange is the New Black Laverne Cox of getting the Maybelline New York “Make It Happen Award.” (Maybelline is a sponsor of the awards ceremony.)
The Daily Front Row Annual Fashion Media Awards is the brainchild of Daily Front Row’s editor in chief and CEO Brandusa Niro — now working on closing the Daily’s annual Media Issue — which covers all the winners and is given out at all the major New York runway shows. Said Niro, “This has been a monumental year in fashion media, and our Fashion Media Awards and companion Media issue celebrate an extraordinary group of leaders and visionaries who made the year’s most powerful and creative statements.”
