For her Oscars red-carpet debut, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens star, 23, dazzled in a beaded Chanel Haute Couture sheath with allover floral embroidery. “I went to Paris on a mission to find the dress,” says Ridley’s stylist, Petra Flannery, who instantly fell in love with the winning icy number as it came down the designer’s runway. “The silver blue really caught my eye — it was stunning and reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn.”
Ridley’s dress was made of organza and silk tulle and required more than 1,000 hours of work and 20 people to complete it. Says Flannery: “I entertained the idea of doing something custom just for Daisy, but couture really is one-of-a-kind.”
The top of the dress featured hand-painted tulle that was embroidered (totaling 800 hours of work) with delicate floral patterns consisting of sequins, crystal beads and 436 yards of velvet and silk ribbon. Flannery, who finished the look with custom Christian Louboutin shoes, says she chose something “old Hollywood … for young Daisy.”
The British actress, who’s shooting Star Wars: Episode VIII, added megawatt sparkle with Chanel Fine Jewelry, including 18-karat white gold Signature Surpiquee earrings set with 104 brilliant-cut diamonds and a Plume statement ring from the 1932 collection.
