The Dress: A ruby red and floral spring 2015 Valentino dress
The Wearer: English actress Keira Knightley
The Event: The 2014 BFI London Film Festival promoting her new movie with Benedict Cumberbatch, The Imitation Game, at the Corinthia Hotel London. Based on the life story of wartime code breaker Alan Turing (Cumberbatch), Knightley plays Joan Clarke, one of the only women code breakers of the time.
Why We Dig It: Knightley is an arbiter of modest dressing by today’s standards, and this English beauty never looks anything short of regal. Knightley’s cap sleeve dress, finished with a beaded collar and embroidered belt, is a breath of crisp air next to the slew of minidresses we’ve been seeing as of late. (Hey, it’s fall already!) Gold platforms are the new red bottoms; here Knightley finishes her look with Charlotte Olympia‘s Auspicious Debbie pumps, embellished with gold dragons and finished with a signature gold platform. The Chanel muse can also be seen in the upcoming film The Laggies, where she plays a woman stuck in the glory years of adolescence.
