The Dress: An ivory caped wedding gown by designer pal Humberto Leon for Kenzo.
The Event: The 28-year-old singer’s nuptials with video director Alan Ferguson in New Orleans, where the newlywed celebrated with big sis Beyonce, Jay Z, Blue Ivy and her mother, Tina.
Why We Dig: Over at Pret-a-Reporter, we’re pretty much obsessed with Solange’s effortlessly cool style, so when Vogue revealed photos of her wedding gowns on Sunday, you can bet we gasped for a few good minutes before truly taking in the ivory-colored masterpiece. Designed by Leon, the full-length, caped gown is minimalist yet majestic. “I was very excited when Solange asked me to design her wedding dress. Solange has the most incredible style,” Leon told Pret-a-Reporter via email. “I wanted to create something extra special for her to make her look and feel like a modern queen.”
While this isn’t the first time we’ve seen this design (Gwyneth Paltrow wore a similar look by Tom Ford at the 2012 Oscars), Solange truly owned her wedding day by styling her elegant ensemble with oversized gold bangles and her go-to Stuart Weitzman “Nudist” heels. As if her caped gown wasn’t enough to make us fall head over heels, the fashion star donned a jumpsuit and cape by Stephane Rolland for prewedding festivities. If there’s anyone who can wear a cape without looking like a superhero on their wedding day, it’s most definitely Solange. Congrats to the happy couple!
