The Dress: A gilded gown from Bottega Veneta’s fall 2017 collection.
The Wearer: Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki, who was styled by Annabelle Harron.
The Event: At Wednesday’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 premiere in L.A., where Debicki was joined by co-stars Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel and Karen Gillan.
Why It Matters: With her statuesque figure, it’s hard to miss Debicki on the red carpet — and her latest look made her stand out that much more. The 26-year-old stole the show on the red carpet, stepping out in a gold lamé gown that looked as if it were designed with her in mind. (She did attend the Italian fashion house’s February show, after all.) “It is glamorous, but in a very Bottega Veneta way. There is an ease to the sophistication, because it is natural,” creative director Tomas Maier said in the show notes. Indeed, the winning look offers just the right amount of glam without being too dramatic for a superhero film premiere.
Since joining Bottega Veneta in June 2001, Maier has helped the luxury label return to its roots and removed any visible logos from the brand’s pieces. Bottega Veneta has also had a greater Hollywood presence, thanks to Maier, as it continues to return to L.A. to sponsor Hammer Museum’s annual Gala in the Garden.
Where to Buy: The gown is available for custom order in select Bottega Veneta stores.
