Los Angeles fashion designer Andrea Lieberman turned her friends and guests into models for her brand A.L.C. on Thursday night to celebrate the opening of her first West Coast boutique at Palisades Village, retail impresario Rick Caruso’s latest development.
“This is all I could have ever wanted,” said the former stylist, who started her contemporary collection of easy-to-wear, polished basics 10 years ago after a successful career as a stylist (she put Jennifer Lopez in that infamous slit-down-to-there leafy Versace dress for the 2000 Grammys).

“She taught me everything I know,” said A.L.C.-clad stylist Petra Flannery, who got her start assisting Lieberman and is now busy working with A-lister Emma Stone on her red carpet looks promoting her upcoming film The Favourite.
Lieberman’s brand has become a go-to for celebs such as Taylor Swift, Brie Larson, Jessica Alba, Chrissy Tiegen and more, not so much for the red carpet, but for everyday and every night wear, most of it priced less than $1,000.

Exhibit A? The array of looks on display Thursday night. Actresses Erin Foster (in A.L.C.’s leopard Mahry mini-dress), Olivia Hamilton (in the velvet burnout Nadia dress), Draycott restaurant co-founder Marissa Hermer (in the goldenrod velvet Kiera dress), writer-director Liz Friedlander (in the boho black-and-gold Meloni blouse) and fellow designer Jennifer Meyer (in the Bambina T-shirt) came out to celebrate Lieberman with cocktails at her store followed by an intimate dinner in the Draycott private dining room.

But mostly, the evening was about a sisterhood of stylists, many of whom have worked together, including Karla Welch (who wore A.L.C.’s sold-out puff-sleeve black cashmere Dre sweater with her signature Levi’s), Erica Cloud (in the flared-leg Rivington jumpsuit) and Annabelle Heron (in the Martano studded denim jacket).
The consensus on A.L.C.’s success? It’s like having a best friend in your closet.
