Landmark for La La Land Loubie Lovers: The parisian shoemaker, whose lacquer-red soles have become as ubiquitous as million-dollar jewelry on the town’s red carpets, is marking his brand’s 20th anniversary with a self-titled book from Rizzoli (rizzoliusa.com, $150) and bicoastal bashes. Louboutin will head west after a stop at Barneys New York’s Madison Avenue flagship to sign copies at the Beverly Hills store Nov. 3. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Lucy Liu are among the hosts of the West Coast event. In the tome, Louboutin reveals that his inspiration for the colorful soles came early on, when he felt something was missing from a mock-up pair of pink heels: “It took me a while to figure out. It was because the sole was black. I grabbed my assistant Sarah’s nail polish and painted the soles red.” — C.M.

007’s Watch Hits the Auction Block
James Bond has shared scenes with villains and sexpots, but in 1973’s Live and Let Die, Roger Moore‘s 007 co-starred with a Rolex that will be sold at a Christie’s auction in Geneva on Nov. 14. The 1972 Oyster Perpetual Ref. 5513 was retrofitted with a motorized buzz-saw bezel with teeth that helped Bond extricate himself from hungry sharks. Another fantasy feature, a supermagnet, came in handy for unzipping Miss Caruso’s (Madeline Smith) dress using, as Bond put it, “sheer magnetism, darling.” The watch, more toy than timepiece because it has no movement, has an estimate of $220,000 to $440,000 (saw included, magnet not). — Laurie Kahle

The Caprice red is similar to the Lancome shade makeup artist Linda Melazzo used on Winslet for HBO’s Mildred Pierce. The line hits this month (lancome.com). – Meg Hemphill
