The Gotham Awards started awards season off with a bang on Monday night in New York, with what will soon be red carpet regulars showing off their early season stuff.
Charlize Theron wore a knockout Gucci summer 2012 dress in black and white georgette to the show at the Cipriani Wall Street, where she got a Gotham Tribute Award. Working with New York-based stylist Leslie Fremar — who also works with Julianne Moore and Maggie Gyllenhaal — Theron wore a dress, not a gown, one from summer, not resort, and went for something a little bit sexy and a lot fashiony. It definitely stood out from her usual.
Elizabeth Olsen, working with L.A.-based stylist Cher Coulter, went much more retro in a camel color Valentino lace gown. The young actress is definitely much more conservative than her designer sisters.
And new style icon Felicity Jones wore a blue-green Proenza Schouler dress that was flattering, eye catching, but with a simple shape. Jones has shown an incredible ability to change looks, designers, lengths and colors, and stay true to her young whimsical Britishness.
That’s not easy! We’re praying she gets a Globe nomination!
