It’s not enough to simply be the face of a brand these days. Supermodels are doing double duty both in front of and behind the camera — as evidenced by Gigi Hadid’s latest gig.
After serving as a face of Maybelline since 2015, Hadid has graduated to a creative responsibility, revealing that she has a new collection — Gigi Hadid x Maybelline — for the cosmetics company that is “coming soon.” A countdown on the brand’s website reveals that the collection will be unveiled Oct. 21.
“A year in the making,” Hadid captioned a photo of herself in front of a full range of lipsticks as well as palettes and other colorful tools. More teaser material on Maybelline’s social media reveal lip pencils and bright pigments embossed with the 22-year-old’s “GH” initials. Eagle-eyed fans will notice that the collab has indeed been a year in the making — the photo posted Monday appears to have been taken in January, based on a photo Hadid posted in the exact same outfit early this year, in which she tagged Maybelline.
One wonders when Hadid has the time to create a full collection of makeup when she has so many other plates to juggle, like her ongoing design collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger, her 12-piece jewelry collection for Messika and her collaboration with Vogue eyewear. Let’s not forget that time she moonlighted as a photographer for Versus Versace, shooting boyfriend Zayn Malik in the capsule collection he designed for the Italian fashion house.
Modeling — that other job she has — must be occupying her time, too, considering she’s the face of Stuart Weitzman (she also designed for the footwear brand, but this time only one style) and Reebok. And that’s not taking into consideration that she appears on the cover of what seems to be at least one international Vogue edition per month. No one said being a supermodel was easy.
