Sure, kids love Halloween, getting all dressed up like their favorite superheroes and, of course, scoring tons of candy. But adults know a thing or two about getting into the spirit, too.
It isn’t hard to image that people get pretty enthusiastic about theme-ing out during this over-the-top holiday — there are over 273 million “Halloween Pins” on Pinterest right now, and nearly 5,000 drink ideas are saved daily throughout this witching season.
Check out these three cocktail recipes, using spirits favored by celebrities like Katy Perry and Drake, to take your celebrations to the next level and watch as the cocktails come to life in the below video.
1 bottle of Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore
1 tablespoon honey
1/4 cup sugar
3 whole cloves
3 whole allspice
2 cinnamon sticks
Method: Rinse lemon and orange and thinly slice them, discarding seeds; quarter the orange slices. Put fruit in a four- to five-quart pan. Add honey, sugar (use the smaller amount if you prefer drinks on the tart side, the larger if you want a sweeter flavor), cloves and allspice. With a knife, cut the cinnamon sticks lengthwise into thinner strips. Add cinnamon and 2 cups water to pan; bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat and boil gently for 5 minutes. Pour Prosecco into hot citrus base and heat until steaming, about 8 minutes. Keep warm over low heat. Ladle into heatproof cups or wineglasses.
Tito‘s Goulish Gimlet
2 oz. Tito’s Handmade Vodka
0.75 oz. fresh lime juice
0.5 oz. simple syrup
Method: Add ingredients to a shaker filled with ice and shake well. Either strain into a chilled glass, or pour over ice. For a spooky twist, rim your glass with black salt before mixing your drink or pour over dry ice.
Virginia Black‘s Don Cornelius
2 oz Virginia Black Decadent American Whiskey
1/2 oz Cinnamon Syrup
2 dashes Jerry Thomas Own Decanter Bitters
7 drops Jamaican Jerk Bitters
Method: Stir all ingredients together in mixing glass. Strain over dry ice. When glass starts smoking, shave fresh nutmeg over drink.
