Every year, InStyle Magazine hosts an event featuring the likely diamond jewelry styles for the Golden Globes – in the past, it’s always been a lunch and fashion show for the media and celebrities, featuring the jewelry of Neil Lane, Martin Katz, Lorraine Schwartz, Bulgari, Cartier, etc. This year it will be an evening event – and will be co-hosted by Golden Globe nominee Michelle Williams.
This gives you an idea of the kind of glitz surrounded the Globes on the part of the jewelers. Not only will every red carpet dweller who’s a female be wearing expensive jewels (for the most part borrowed – or for the whole part, we might say) – pieces seen on nominees and other stars often wind up being sold to potential buyers around the world for big cash. Not to mention the branding opportunities inherent in a star wearing your jewels. This is how L.A. jewelers Neil Lane and Martin Katz developed brands, after all.
Tuesday night January 10, Forevermark, the diamond jewelry company, with team up Ariel Foxman and other editors of InStyle Magazine, will kick off “red carpet season” while showing off the jewels, amongst many security guards, at the Beverly Hills Hotel. There always celebs at an event like this, but GG nominee Michelle Williams agree to co-host, which means she might give a speech, which would be fun – though she claims she hates public speaking. There will also be a host of other extremely fashion-conscious celebs on hand: Jessica Alba, Nina Dobrev of Vampire Diaries, Dita Von Teese, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Rosanna Arquette, Castle’s Stana Katic – and a host of stylists always storm this event, looking for jewelry ideas for their clients. THR ran into a rep for a major European fashion house this week who said, “No one will decide on their Globe dress until the Saturday night before.” That goes double for the jewelry.
