The Little Marc Jacobs spring line and its tiniest fans were on cute overload Thursday evening when the brand teamed up with the charity Baby2Baby for an event at the West Hollywood kids hot spot Au Fudge.
Celebrities including Jaime King and Tiffani Thiessen browsed the collection full of embroidered varsity jackets, striped shorts and playful prints, while their children got their faces painted and munched on decadent desserts. At the photo booth, stylist Penny Lovell posed with her daughter, after the pair styled themselves in props including feather boas, top hats and sunglasses.
The event benefited Baby2Baby, the Los Angeles-based charity that provides families in need with crucial items and gear, and a portion of the night’s sales as well as a lump sum were donated to the charity on behalf of the fashion brand.
Baby2Baby co-president Kelly Sawyer Patricof noted that this was the first time the organization had ever done anything with Marc Jacobs, but not because of any lack of love for the line.
“When I was 19 and in New York, I used to go over to the Marc Jacobs boutique in the West Village every year and take my Christmas photo with my dog,” said Patricof. Now an L.A. resident and a mother, Patricof says it’s her two young daughters who are “obsessed” with the kids collection.
It’s not hard to see why — even the bags, including white bunny-shaped cases and heart purses emblazoned with metallic lightening bolts, are cute.
And though the kid’s line launched a decade ago, reps for the brand say this is the first fete in its honor.
Judging by the celebrity and fashion community support during the Au Fudge event, chances are it won’t be the last.
