Music-centric men’s fashion designer John Varvatos, who has collaborated with ZZ Top, Nick Jonas, Machine Gun Kelly, Chris Cornell and many more on print ads and capsule collections over the years, is officially getting into the entertainment business.
Network Entertainment on Thursday announced a joint venture with Varvatos to create original content for television and film focusing on the worlds of music, fashion and pop culture. Varvatos will be partnering with producer Derik Murray to create content that will be distributed globally on multiple platforms and will be designed to feature complementary merchandising, publishing, sponsorship and special event opportunities.
One of the first projects to be developed on the Varvatos and Network Entertainment slate is a series based on Varvatos’ best-selling book, John Varvatos: Rock in Fashion.
Varvatos, who grew up in Detroit and is based in New York, launched his brand in 2000. Network Entertainment, founded and headquartered in Vancouver, has produced a number of documentary projects, including the Facing series, I Am Heath Ledger and the upcoming I Am MLK Jr., which is set to premiere April 4 on Paramount Network.
In 2017, Varvatos announced a joint venture with Big Machine Label Group to discover and develop rock acts on a new Big Machine Records/John Varvatos Records label. California rock band Badflower was the first signing.
