Karl Lagerfeld didn’t sugarcoat his response to the violent assault and robbery of Kim Kardashian that occurred in her Paris hotel room on Sunday night.
After showing his spring 2017 Chanel collection on Tuesday morning, the 83-year-old told the Associated Press that Kardashian is “too public, too public — we have to see in what time we live. You cannot display your wealth then be surprised that some people want to share it.”
He continued, “I don’t understand why [she] was in a hotel with no security and things like this. If you are that famous and you put all your jewelry on the net, you go to hotels where nobody can come near to the room.”
Considering his affection for Kardashian’s little sis Kendall Jenner — who cut her Paris Fashion Week trip short following the incident, thus breaking her nine-show streak walking for Chanel — our eyebrows popped upon hearing that Lagerfeld didn’t express more sympathy for the family. But, then again, they don’t call him the Kaiser for nothing.
There are plenty of public figures in Kardashian’s corner, however, including Chrissy Teigen, James Corden and even Piers Morgan.
