Time magazine’s annual 100 Most Influential People issue is out, and it celebrates Hollywood in a big way. Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio is featured on one of several covers. But several prominent members of the fashion industry make appearances as well.
Designers Riccardo Tisci and Guo Pei turn up on the prestigious list, as does supermodel Karlie Kloss. Fellow Italian Donatella Versace wrote the Givenchy creative director’s tribute, describing him as “an agitator, a rebel, someone who pushes boundaries and defies convention, someone who brings together fashion with art and other cultures.”
To honor the Chinese couturier who dressed Rihanna in dramatic canary yellow for last year’s Met Gala, Wendi Murdoch shared her admiration and love of Pei’s work. She also added that when Rihanna first approached her with the opportunity, Pei wasn’t even aware of who the superstar was.
Meanwhile, Kloss’ tribute was written by Diane von Furstenberg, who calls her “the epitome of the ideal American millennial woman.” These style savants share the feature with world leaders, titans and entertainers including Adele (written by Jennifer Lawrence), Nicki Minaj (by Lil Wayne) and director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (by Guillermo del Toro). In addition, Gina Rodriguez, Caitlyn Jenner and Aziz Ansari made the list of pioneers.
