Kathy Hilton held a cocktail reception at her recently completed house in Beverly Hills last night to showcase her namesake fall and holiday 2012 evening wear collection.
Hilton donned a black pleather and lace cocktail dress with a peplum skirt that she designed in replication of a see-through lace costume she witnessed at the San Francisco opera. “My inspiration is designing beautiful dresses that look like a million dollars but they don’t break the bank. These dresses are affordable, they’re classic and they’re timeless,” Hilton said.??

Hilton was approached last spring by Mon Cheri to design the collection. The fashion designer told The Hollywood Reporter, “I wanted to design dresses that would be appropriate for myself — when you look through my look book and my collection — for my sisters who are a bit younger than me, my daughters, my nieces, their friends, my friends and women of all ages.”??
Dress prices range from $395 to $750 and come in a variety of styles (three quarter sleeve, full sleeve, sleeveless and tank), an assortment of colors and fits sizes zero to 14.??Guests — including Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards (Hilton’s half-sister) — mingled throughout the Hilton residence, which was decorated with two Christmas trees for the winter holiday, while each main living area showcased dress samples.??According to Hilton, the inspiration for the collection partly reflected the interior decor of her house, which she personally designed with white walls, glass accents — and lots of mirrors. The trim on a variety of cocktail gowns paralleled the scallop-trimmed pillow cases in the Hilton’s sitting room. The residence’s pale pastel color palette into the light blue and white shades chosen for her clothing tags as well as the design of her New York showroom on Seventh Avenue.?

“Fashion is very personal. We have different events or occasions and I love to celebrate any occasion there is to celebrate. We all want to look feminine and pretty and I think it’s nice to bring back that lady-like, fun, feminine, with the edge and sexy at the same time, and something that’s fresh and new. That’s why all the stores took my line. They said it’s so fresh. It’s different.”
The Kathy Hilton collection is available at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Harvey Nichols and online.
