The Look: A silk, floral look (called “Hodges Podges“) from Rosie Assoulin’s fall 2017 collection.
The Wearer: Mad Men alum and teen style star Kiernan Shipka.
The Event: A screening of the U.S.-Canada horror flick The Blackcoat’s Daughter in New York City, where Shipka was joined by co-stars Emma Roberts and Lucy Boynton.
Why It Matters: Winter weather (and storm Stella) be damned, the first day of spring has officially come to pass. And the new season brought with it a fresh update on the evergreen floral trend, swapping microflorals for oversize blooms. Shipka’s silk dress is from Rosie Assoulin’s fall 2017 collection, which the designer showed at New York Fashion Week paired with a bold red lip and yellow booties.
Assoulin is a rising star on the American fashion scene who counts stylist Karla Welch, actresses Naomie Harris and Lupita N’yongo and jewelry designer Irene Neuwirth as fans. Her sculptural, effortless dressed-up fall collection takes fashion’s perennial floral trend to new heights; some looks even feature real dried flowers pressed between layers of tulle.
The dress Shipka chose is dripping in flowers, which were also fixed to the dress straps. Paired with fresh spring makeup and no-fuss low ponytail, the look had us longing for warmer days.
Where to Buy: The floral stunner, $4,295, will be available for purchase in August at Saks Fifth Avenue Brookfield Place in New York City.
