Of course, Italian fashion news from Milan is big news, since Milan is one of the world’s fashion capitals. In fact, it appears that every other store in the entire city is a clothing store! And the Milanese are among the best dressed people in the world.
We had a preview of the M Missoni — Missoni’s second, and less expensive line, sold in Los Angeles in large quanitities at Saks Fifth Avenue — and it was one of the colorful knitwear brand’s best junior collections ever. A lot of the shapes were inspired by Azzedine Alaia, in fact. The big news is that the brand is launching its first accessories collection ever this summer. We saw early signs of M Missoni shoes and bags and small leather goods, and they are really cute — and well-priced. The major Missoni line makes great shoes and bags, sold only in Missoni boutiques in the States, but they’re astronomically expensive.
For fall, the new M Missoni bags were in hard-handled boxy stiff leather shapes in really bright colors. M Missoni will also debut a new website this July, and they will also be doing the brand’s very first etailing, so you can buy the new bags and shoes online if they’re not in local stores fast enough.
