MAC Cosmetics and Puma are getting together for an unlikely collaboration of…well, we’re not entirely sure.
MAC posted a teaser on social media that does little to explain exactly what the two brands have got cooking. What we do know, however, is that their joint project is coming in 2018.
If we were to take a wild guess, we would lean toward some kind of shoe collaboration, given the language used in MAC’s Instagram caption, which reads: “Your favourite hues take a big step in a whole new direction! Stay tuned for a kickin’ collaboration, coming soon.”
The video also features a silhouette of a sneaker, so perhaps the collab could be something as simple as a shoe available in one of the makeup brand’s most popular hues. Fans have also speculated about the possibility of a perfectly color-coordinated streetwear collection and cosmetics range that would make it easy for customers to easily match their lipstick to their ensemble.
Puma women’s creative director, Rihanna, has stayed mum on social media regarding the collab, but if there’s one thing she’s proved, it’s that her fans love her footwear as much as her makeup. Her Fenty x Puma collection has made the German retailer competitive in the crowded sportswear market, and boosted parent company Kering’s profits thanks to sales of creepers and faux-fur slides. Meanwhile, her Fenty Beauty line, produced by Kendo, which is owned by LVMH, has already become a cult favorite.
