Rag & Bone showed slipdresses, puffer jackets and skirts layered over skinny pants; Alexander Wang sent heavy-metal/grunge–inspired looks and clunky creepers down the runway (Lucky’s editor-in-chief Eva Chen tweeted, “Boots ?@AlexanderWangNY… Major! (And I never use that word)”); Prabal Gurung was decidedly minimalistic, also showing slipdresses; and Public School gave a subtle nod to the early-’90s club scene with an array of plaid.

Perhaps most notably, models are making a strong showing as the “It” front-row faces. There are still some actresses (a handful of them willing to brave the freezing temps), reality stars, one teary-eyed toddler and an occasional A-lister (Sarah Jessica Parker, Beyonce), but we can’t help but notice the growing number of models seated in the shows’ prime real estate. While highest fashion-show attendance is usually awarded to a rising red-carpet star (Anna Kendrick last February, Emmy Rossum and Allison Williams both preceding her), supermodel Coco Rocha is taking top honors this season. The model has stepped out for seven shows (thus far) including Zac Posen, Donna Karan (joined by model Chrissy Teigen), Dennis Basso, Carolina Herrera, Christian Siriano, Rebecca Minkoff and BCBG as well as the Fendi flagship store opening.
Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Gigi Hadid, who’s working with Taylor Swift’s stylist Joseph Cassell, sat front row at Tory Burch (in addition to walking the runway at Tommy Hilfiger’s show), while fellow SI and Victoria’s Secret alum Jessica Hart sat front row at the Tory Burch, Rag & Bone and FRAME Denim presentations. Model-turned-actress Emily Ratajkowski popped up at Cushnie et Ochs. And Vogue model and former runway fixture Alek Wek (MTV’s “Model of the Year” in 1997) was spotted backstage before Zac Posen’s show where she and ’90s supermodel extraordinaire Naomi Campbell both walked the runway — Campbell shutting it down, as supermodels do, in Posen’s one and only glitzy ballgown.
