Despite freezing temps, Donna Karan’s longtime friend Susan Sarandon flew into town just in time to attend the designer’s fall 2015 presentation: “I arrived last night — I really enjoyed the show. I loved the cropped trousers and high-collared white shirts,” Sarandon told Pret-a-Reporter. “My favorite was definitely the skirt with sheer silk panels [runway look No. 21].”
Chrissy Teigen, who posed for selfies with fellow model Coco Rocha before the show, said that when it came time to deciding what to wear to Karan’s show, it was the very first thing she slipped on: “This was it — I just loved it,” said Teigen of her fitted, belted tank top and matching embellished skirt.

Karan’s predominantly black and charcoal collection with gold and bronze accents was designed to go from day to night. The strongest pieces were the coats — an army-green waxed cotton trench, a mid-length metallic cashmere coat and a belted brocade jacket with swingy gold fringe. Karan’s red-carpet evening wear included four floor-sweeping gowns in black-tie black — strapless, plunging and halter silhouettes with sheer panels.
While actresses tend to favor the designer’s one-of-a-kind Donna Karan Atelier (most recently seen on Camila Alves, Sofia Vergara and Emilia Clarke) for red-carpet awards shows, it’s anyone’s guess what will pop up at next Sunday’s Oscars. There was a burnished gold lamé and black felt tulle evening gown with plenty of va-va-voom transparency that we could see Teigen wearing (runway look no. 35). John Legend is scheduled to perform his Oscar-nominated song “Glory” from Selma, so you never know.
