Skyfall actress Berenice Marlohe and Newroom star Olivia Munn could have almost passed for twins at the BAFTA LA Britannia Awards, held Wednesday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The brunette star of Aaron Sorkin’s HBO hit series about a TV news program, wore a Temperley London ombre gold sequin gown with Asprey jewelry, Aruna Seth shoes and a Swarovski bag.
And the exotic French model/actress who make her English language film debut in the new Bond movie — directed by Sam Mendes — chose an Oscar de la Renta gilt gown, Amrapali earrings and a Le Vian ring.
Needless to say, both ladies displayed impressive cleavages, thanks to their shimmering plunging V-neck style gowns.
As one of the newest in a long line of Bond babes, Marlohe has sizzled on red carpets around the globe for the spy film spawned from Ian Fleming’s novels. To date she has worn gowns by Vivienne Westwood, Elie Saab, Alexander McQueen, Dolce Gabbana, and Roksanda Illincic.
With her husky voice and a Salma Hayek physique, she doesn’t need a double-entendre moniker. Her character is simply Severine.
Munn’s character is also a skilled, savvy and sexy presence on Newsroom and she talked about her character at the THR Power of Style luncheon.
“She is strong, smart, sexy and ambitious but flawed when it comes to social situations. And all that was important to me,” she says of her role as financial reporter Sloan Sabbith. And for that mysterious mix, she credits Sorkin.
“Sorkin is a father, first and foremost, to a daughter. And he is one of those fathers — that I never had – who pick up the phone when you call. If you have a question, he answers. He leaves the set to be with her, no matter what. And I’m lucky to have him as a boss. He’s created a female character who doesn’t have to be pretty or smart. She can be both.”
Now we gotta ask: Who gets your best-dressed award?
