Nina Garcia, Project Runway judge and Marie Claire creative director, is the latest famous face to team up with Quarterly Co. as a contributor to the subscription service.
Subscribers to Quarterly — which is led by CEO Mitch Lowe, co-founder of Netflix and former Redbox executive — receive curated physical gifts in the mail every three months from contributors of their choice. Along with Garcia, other celebrity contributors include Pharrell Williams, Coco, Bill Nye, author Timothy Ferris, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian and DJ Skee.

Subscribers receive a package containing a blend of original, exclusive items, as well as a letter from the contributor explaining how the handpicked items fit into their life. Each package features a theme chosen by the contributor to tell a compelling story. For example, Williams — who creates his mailings around the theme of curiosity — in his most recent package included a copy of The Alchemist with his notes, a photograph of a plant that he took himself and signed, and sheet music for the “I Am Other” score that he composed.
For her part, Garcia plans to theme her mailings around fashion, of course, but she says it won’t be just about that.
“Being at the forefront of fashion, I am constantly exposed to new and wonderful brands, products and places,” Garcia says. “I’m excited to share these magnificent finds with my followers. The theme will be all things fashion, but of course, fashion is influenced by culture so expect to find those elements as well.”

Meanwhile, Quarterly says its service offers fans a new way to connect with their favorite stars and influencers in a range of areas.
“There is no greater creative force in today’s fashion world than Nina Garcia. We are thrilled to count her as a Quarterly contributor,” Lowe says. “Her adoring fan base of fashion ‘insiders’ can now gain intimate insight and greater understanding into what inspires her as an authority on fashion. Through the simple joy of receiving a curated package in the mail, Quarterly is helping connect influencers with their followers in more meaningful ways.”
TQuarterly, founded in 2011, is backed by True Ventures, Collaborative Fund, VegasTechFund, SV Angel and others. It is one of several web-based companies offering crowd- or celebrity-cultivated merchandise to consumers. Others include Birchbox and Fancy.
