We’ve already seen a number of boldfacers in the front row — Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Blake Lively and Christina Hendricks, included — during this season’s New York Fashion Week, so it’s become somewhat routine to see famous faces attending the shows. But much to our delight, there was one surprise guest star at Karen Walker‘s show Monday: Josh Ostrovsky, better known as the social media genius behind The Fat Jewish Instagram account, with his signature vertical ‘do and pup Toast (star of Walker’s spring 2015 campaign).

Ostrovsky — clad in a denim jacket, blue tracksuit and pink-rimmed Karen Walker sunnies — may have arrived for the designer’s fall 2015 runway show but he was also there for another good reason. “I heard there was going to be snacks, love free snacks. Like a wrap, always down for a wrap,” he joked with Pret-a-Reporter. “And because I genuinely wear Karen Walker every single day, cause if you’re a man and you’re not wearing women’s sunglasses, you’re doing it wrong. You should be wearing women’s sunglasses at all time.”
If you’re one of the 3 million Instagram followers who keeps up with his account, it’s likely you’ve noticed Ostrovsky has an affinity for Karen Walker’s shades. The comic, who owns 37 pairs by the New Zealand-based designer, pointed out that, “Sunglasses are not a game, they’re a lifestyle.”

Not only does Ostrovsky attend fashion week, it’s also an opportunity for him to gather material for later Instagram posts. “During Fashion Week, I basically have an army of interns run around taking photos for me because I have material now to just completely shit on and say horrible things about for maybe the next five years,” he shared. “It’s like a treasure trove.”
He’s not worried about this week’s drop in temperature, either. “Basically I’ll usually have an army of interns around me, like giving me cups of chili […] but I’m big, fat and often drunk so I think this weather is great,” said the 30-year-old.
As for what Walker herself thinks about hearing that Ostrovsky is a fan of her work? “We love Josh. We get a kick out of it every time he wears one of our glasses. He just makes them look so good,” said Walker with a laugh, adding that it was her first time meeting him at the show. “He was everything I’d hope he’d be.” We agree.
