Fashion editors have been discussing how the front rows have looked a little snoozy, celeb-wise, at the spring/summer 2015 shows in New York this week, but Monday night’s Tod’s party amped up the A-list factor, with Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor among those who stopped in for the reopening of the brand’s Madison Avenue boutique.
For a moment it looked like a Moulin Rouge reunion, with Baz Luhrman also dropping by to pay his respects to the man of the hour: Diego Della Valle, president and CEO of Tod’s, who discussed his thoughts on the intimate feel of his recently renovated 3,500-square-foot Madison Avenue flagship. “The idea was to make our clients feel at home,” he said. “A house built in a classic Italian style with thousands of fine details is always rare to find. I think we can rest assured that we have done well.”
Tod’s creative director Alessandra Facchinetti flew in from Milan to co-host the event, welcoming Adrian Grenier, Caitlin Fitzgerald, Karolina Kurkova (wearing a pale-blue Tod’s suit with cropped pants), and Uma Thurman, who dashed in after attending Zac Posen’s show at his soon-to-open offices nearby on 54th St. Once cocktails and shows were complete (Karolina and others were also running off to catch Ralph Lauren’s Polo presentation in Central Park), the VIPs regrouped for dinner at Le Bilboquet, which Della Valle had taken over for the evening.
