NEW YORK — Original ’90s supermodel and The Face coach/executive producer Naomi Campbell, whose, uh, diva-like behaviors once inspired the popular T-shirt “Naomi Campbell Hit me. And I liked it,” was a surprise participant in Diane von Furstenberg’s spring 2014 fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York on Sunday.
The Oxygen network personality donned long, wavy hair, a smirk of confidence and her signature fierce hip-swaying runway moves as she modeled the final look of the presentation — a black and gold shift dress from von Furstenberg’s next major seasonal collection — as Daft Punk’s “Lose Yourself to Dance” played in the background.
The style set took to social media with glee upon the controversial model’s arrival.
“NAOMI CLOSES DVF: that is all” Instagrammed Lucky editor-in-chief Eva Chen. While Style.com market director Marina Larroude too took to the photo and video sharing platform to alert her 29,000 followers that Naomi had entered the building. Italian Model and blogger Marta Pozzan also went on Insta to share her excitement, using the hash tag #OMG, while L.A.-based Bravo personality and vintage clothing aficionado Cameron Silver simply wrote “There’s only one Naomi Campbell” from his perch in the front row.
Though Campbell made the biggest splash at the show, she was hardly the only boldfacer in attendance, with Coco Rocha, Jessica Alba, Sheryl Crow, Rachel Zoe and Allison Williams watching von Furstenberg’s tribal geometric prints come down the pike.
Paris Hilton was there, too.
