Oscar Beauty: Jennifer Garner’s Simple Eleganc

Last year’s Academy Awards may have had Argo and her husband in the spotlight, but this year was Jennifer Garner’s turn to shine. To stay in line with the easy glamour of her Oscar de la Renta gown, makeup artist Fiona Stiles and hairstylist Adir Abergel wanted to keep the beauty look uncomplicated but still offer a wow factor.

Stiles used Neutrogena products on the brand’s ambassador, opting for neutral shades on the eyes: Constant Copper and Lasting Taupe shadows on the lid and Spiced Chocolate and Cosmic Black to line the eyes. Stiles wanted a rosy berry lip that was “a darker take on Jen’s natural lip color.” She used MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Bright Berry mixed with Rich Raisin.

For the hair, Abergel told Pret-a-Reporter that he wanted it “down, soft and very romantic.” To get the look, he started with Oribe Maximista on the roots to the mid-shaft, then applied Oribe plumping mousse to the roots before blow-drying the hair and sweeping the bangs to the side. Once dry, he wrapped sections around a 1-inch curling iron to create the waves throughout the hair and set the entire look with hairspray. The end result was one of the evening’s most polished looks, and one that deserved an award.
