Designer Oscar de la Renta has patched things up with New York Times style scribe Cathy Horyn, after their public feud over her review of his fall 2013 show last spring.
A few months ago, Horyn wrote a review of his show, describing the designer as a “hot dog.” The suave South American-born designer didn’t take too kindly to the term, often used in sports writing, meaning someone who is a big show off, who plays fancy tricks or performs stunts.

After the show, de la Renta explained the denouemont: “She came to see me before the show and I told her we probably approach fashion in two different ways. I respect her way and I hope she respects my way.” He added: “I read every single article she writes on fashion. I never hold grudges.”
But when pressed on the initial fall-out, he smiled and replied, “It takes two to tango.”
We have to wonder if YSL designer Hedi Slimane, who also has had a long-standing feud with Horyn and has banned her from his runway shows, will be so easily placated.

His tweet shunning the writer swept the web after she wrote a review of his first YSL show (from looking at photos) and dubbed his collection “a nice but frozen vision of a bohemian chick at the Chateau Marmont. Or in St. Tropez.” He later removed the tweets slamming Horyn.
But the Paris couture shows are fast approaching. If Horyn does get a formal invite, will she don a pair of Slimane’s chic slim cigarette pants, a cropped leather jacket or one of his exquisite sheer floral gowns?
Will such a “see, I’m wearing your clothes” mea culpa be enough?
