The 17-year-old singer spent part of the evening chatting with Mick Jagger, as onlookers buzzed: “What is Mick Jagger talking to Justin Bieber about?” Fran Lebowitz, the 60ish New York writer of sardonic prose, spent considerable time in a booth with Bieber. When asked about their conversation, Lebowitz said, “We were reminiscing.” … Also at the VF party was famed photographer Ellen von Unwerth, who was hosting an impromptu photo shoot in the hotel’s bathroom. Eventually, security told Unwerth — who was not photographing the event for the magazine — that she couldn’t take any more pictures of partygoers, to which she responded, “Why not?” … Oscars telecast co-producer Bruce Cohen was all smiles at VF, seemingly unfazed by the criticism of the show. He said that what he’d learned from doing the show was, “I want to do it again.”
