Never one to shy away from a statement, civil rights lawyer Gloria Allred has choice, positive words for this year’s Oscars carpet, thanks to celebrity makeup artist Daniel McFadden.

Using eyelash glue, McFadden carefully arranged letters on Allred’s back to read “EQUAL RIGHTS FOR LGBT,” a message that was prominently visible through the sheer back of her black pantsuit. Playing off the sparkle of Allred’s Tiffany earrings, McFadden, who holds court at Beverly Hills’ Jonathan and George Salon, glued crystals to Allred’s back, creating the illusion that the message actually was part of the outfit’s fabric.
“We decided on this together,” said McFadden, who has been working with Allred for 15 years. “Gloria wanted to arrive on the red carpet and make a statement.”
