The Oscars may be a little different this year, thanks to the pandemic, but there is still a red carpet — and plenty of stars who walked it ahead of Sunday’s show.
Oscar nominees Carey Mulligan, Riz Ahmed, Steven Yeun, Viola Davis, Daniel Kaluuya, Leslie Odom Jr., Chloé Zhao, Paul Raci, Glenn Close and Diane Warren were among those who hit the carpet for the 93rd annual Academy Awards. See the photos (and all the fashions) below.
This year the Oscars are being held at two locations — Union Station in downtown Los Angeles and the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood. The show will be televised on ABC.
Awards will be handed out in 23 categories (the sound editing and mixing categories are combined this year into one).
The show is produced by Steven Soderbergh, Jesse Collins and Stacey Sher, who have promised a more cinematic-looking telecast than is usual. “You’ll feel like you’re watching a movie,” Soderbergh previously told The Hollywood Reporter.
There is no host this year, but stars set to present include Steven Yeun, Riz Ahmed, Angela Bassett, Halle Berry, Don Cheadle, Bryan Cranston, Viola Davis, Laura Dern, Harrison Ford, Bong Joon Ho, Regina King, Marlee Matlin, Rita Moreno, Joaquin Phoenix, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Renée Zellweger and Zendaya.

ABC’s telecast was preceded by a preshow called Oscars: Into the Spotlight, during which Celeste Waite, H.E.R., Leslie Odom Jr., Laura Pausini, Daniel Pemberton, Molly Sandén and Diane Warren will perform the five nominated original songs in their entirety, in a departure from tradition. “Fight for You” (from Judas and the Black Messiah), “Hear My Voice” (The Trial of the Chicago 7), “Io si (Seen)” (The Life Ahead) and “Speak Now” (One Night in Miami) will be shot on the Dolby Family Terrace of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, while “Husavik” (Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga) will originate from Husavik, Iceland. ABC also will air a postshow, Oscars: After Dark, following the telecast.
