Substantial platform sandals and clogs that are elevated but walkable were seen at Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Alexander McQueen. To borrow a phrase from Instagram’s fashion director Eva Chen, just think of the PFW runways as a bit of a “heel reimmersion” program, designed to ease wearers into non-flats.

At Chanel (above left) where Karl Lagerfeld staged an airport terminal inside the Grand Palais, tweedy Teva-like sandals had flashing airplane runway lights on the soles.
Louis Vuitton’s Nicolas Ghesquiere dressed his cyberpunk models in futuristic metal-embroidered skirts and grungy, clod-hopperish sandals with chain detailing (above right) to match chain bags.
Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton balanced soft and romantic floral dresses inspired by 17th century silk weavers with clunky wooden clogs (above center).
Giambattista Valli complemented billowy bohemian gowns with gladiator flatform sandals with shiny glitter soles.
Master of boho, French cool-girl style, Isabel Marant, opted for clunky flat sandals with woven rope detailing in black and red.
Clare Waight Keller at Chloé drew inspiration from the ‘90s, including overalls, MC Hammer pants and frayed denim with rainbow-hued knotted wedges.
