PARIS — At the Oscars on Sunday, we saw the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Lawrence and Jennifer Garner among those sporting nude lips. And now, just three days into Paris’ fall 2013 shows, we’re already seeing a trend emerge on the runways: bare beauty.
At Rochas, makeup artist Lucia Pieroni did a plain face with an emphasis on bone structure — cheeks were highlighted and eyebrows enhanced — to complement, not dominate, the extreme proportions of designer Marc Zanini’s collection.

A similar look was achieved at Dries Van Noten, where makeup artist Peter Phillips used Chanel Crayon Sourcils sculpting eyebrow pencils to define the brow, and nude and brown eye shadows to create a bit of subtle drama.
For his first Balenciaga collection, designer Alexander Wang also kept it simple, with zero blush and pale, pale lips — even the eyebrows were made to look lighter on certain models.
The bare-face look is easy to achieve, not to mention far more appealing for everyday life (and even red carpet occasions) than some of the more out-there stuff we’re bound to see this week. That is, if you start with a good base. At Dries, Phillips used Chanel’s Perfection Lumiere Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Makeup.
