Once the birthplace for the neo-burlesque revival, 5574 Melrose Ave., just steps from the Paramount lot in Hollywood, is about to reemerge as Pour Vous, the latest lounge from busy brothers Mark Houston and Jonnie Houston, who have created an archipelago of buzzed-about nearby nightspots in recent years, including La Descarga, Harvard & Stone and Piano Bar.

Formerly the popular Forty Deuce, owned by legendary club king Ivan Kane, the address has been the launching pad for Robin Antin’s original dance troupe the Pussycat Dolls and, during its heyday, drew the likes of Nicole Kidman, George Clooney and Vince Vaughn. Prior to that, beginning in the late 1980s, Sean MacPherson ran his seminal dive Small’s K.O in the same space. “The venues that have been here before us are some of the most amazing in L.A. history,” says Mark. “So we have to live up to that.”
Now set to officially open around the middle of next week, Pour Vous will be a Midnight in Paris-esque reverie, with an aphrodisiac-oriented menu boasting Champagne and Cognac cocktails, French wines and cheeses, as well as oysters and chocolate. “The design is early 1900s Paris,” says Jonnie of the “sexy boudoir lounge.”

But the pièce de résistance is the domed stained-glass ceiling. “We were inspired by the Galeries Lafayette,” says Mark.
