Rami Malek has been getting a lot of recognition for his role in Mr. Robot this awards season, earning a nomination at the Golden Globes and SAG Awards and winning best actor in a drama series at the Critics’ Choice TV Awards. But that’s not all: He’s also getting major attention for his style — and we’re talking beyond his signature hoodies on the USA Network drama.
The actor has been killing it on the red carpet, from his Z Zegna tux at the Vanity Fair Oscar party to the purple Calvin suit at the Spirit Awards. He can’t take all the credit, though. Stylist Ilaria Urbinati, who ranked No. 6 on The Hollywood Reporter‘s 25 Most Powerful Stylists list of 2016, is responsible for giving Malek his sartorial swag.
But when they’re prepping for red carpets, it’s not just a party of two — or even a few.
“For the Golden Globes, I went to his house half an hour before the car picks him up,” recalls Urbinati. “And his whole family’s there, which is super cute.”
“When there’s an event, my whole house is full,” says Malek. Adds a laughing Urbinati: “It’s true, it’s like My Big Fat Greek Wedding at all times.”
