With her porcelain complexion and striking red tresses, Sadie Sink effortlessly pulls off a natural makeup look time after time. But for the Emmys, makeup artist Kayleen McAdams decided to step it up a notch with the Stranger Things star: “This felt like a moment to do something more,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter, drawing inspiration from Old Hollywood for a dose of age-appropriate glamour.
A big part of Sink’s look is her face-framing brows, says McAdams, who used Chanel Le Gel Sourcils in Blond gel on the 16-year-old. “It really blends well with her hair color, and gives her a bit more softness,” she notes (“I don’t like the way red products look on redheads”).
For a dose of color on Sink’s eyes, the makeup artist turned to the Chanel Stylo Ombre et Contour in Contour Clair palette, applying the taupe-beige shade from the Chanel Les 4 Ombres in Clair Obscur palette to the outer edge and lower lash line.
The trick for a softer eye? Brown mascara, says McAdams, who used Chanel Inimitable Mascara in Noir Brun on the starlet’s curled lashes.
After a dusting of Chanel Joues Contraste blush in Quintessence on the cheeks, a matte, cherry-red lip in the form of Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Extreme in Ideal added the finishing touch to the look — a vibrant and modern shade selected in part for its blue undertones. “It’s very complementary to Sadie’s eyes, and really makes them pop.”
