Mara Raphael, a producer on HLN’s Showbiz Tonight, married John Mendell Jr. on March 21 at the Beverly Hills Courthouse. The couple, who met at a 2007 wedding, celebrated with two events for out-of-town friends and family before the ceremony: a July 7 weekend at the Basin Harbor Club in Vergennes, Vt., and an Oct. 27 weekend at the Parker hotel in Palm Springs. The newlyweds honeymooned in Miami.
WEDDINGS
Ann-Marie Thomson, global head of media at Syco Entertainment, married Peter Samson, U.S. editor of The Sun, on April 3 in Palm Springs. The couple, who met three years ago in London, honeymooned in Belize.
ENGAGEMENTS
The Talk’s Sara Gilbert is engaged to musician Linda Perry. The couple have been together for more than a year.

Glee’s Heather Morris and her boyfriend, Taylor Hubbell, are expecting their first child in the fall.

Actor-comedian Tom Arnold and his wife, Ashley Groussman, welcomed son Jax Copeland, the first child for both, on April 6.

Melanie Davis joined ICM Partners as head of marketing for the agency’s concert division April 2.
Michael Mahan was appointed president of DC Media, the parent company of Dick Clark Productions, on April 9. The former TV Guide Network president will be based at the company’s Los Angeles headquarters.

DEATHS
Mouseketeer Annette Funicello, who starred in such films as Bikini Beach and Beach Party, died April 8 at Mercy Southwest Hospital in Bakersfield, Calif., after battling multiple sclerosis for many years. She was 70.
Jim Mees, an Emmy-winning set decorator who worked on three Star Trek TV series, died March 29 at home in Selinsgrove, Pa., after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57.
Jane Henson, who with future husband and fellow puppeteer Jim Henson brought the Muppets to life in the 1950s, died April 2 at home in Greenwich, Conn., of cancer. She was 78.
Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, whose long Merchant Ivory collaboration earned her adapted screenplay Oscars for A Room With a View and Howards End, died April 3 of a pulmonary condition at home in New York. She was 85.
Rock and Roll of Fame Induction Ceremony Hits L.A.
For the first time in 20 years, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will hold its annual induction ceremony in Los Angeles. The April 18 event, to take place at Nokia Theatre with a slew of tribute performances, will air on HBO on May 18. The 2013 inductees are Quincy Jones (getting a tribute from Usher), Heart, Albert King, Randy Newman, Public Enemy, Rush, Lou Adler and the late Donna Summer.
