Alexa Chung Releases Film to Accompany Her Fantastic Collection [Pret-a-Reporter Inbox]
Earlier this month, Alexa Chung unveiled her third see-now-buy-now collection, titled “Fantastic,” which was inspired by the ‘90s Britpop music scene. In Chung’s signature tomboy style, the collection mixes oversize tailored jackets with slogan T-shirts, denim boiler suits, ruffled blouses, lace dresses and miniskirts. “I think I’m always intrigued by that stage of youth where you’re caught in between teenage-dom and adulthood,” Chung said in a press statement. “There’s a synergy between what’s going on in the video: finding one’s place in the world, tentative expression, the joy of discovery and what’s going on with our brand, progressively feeling more confident. Britpop largely inspired this collection, and that sort of ultra-British experience of soggy chips and windswept beaches and old men’s pubs and disco revivals is a time and a place I wanted to revisit in this film.”

Band of Outsiders to Pop Up in Fred Segal [WWD]
Band of Outsiders, the menswear brand originally founded in Los Angeles in 2004 by Scott Sternberg, will launch a pop-up shop and window at Fred Segal’s new Sunset Boulevard flagship in West Hollywood on Thursday that will remain open through Feb. 18. The pop-up will be the exclusive L.A. outlet for the brand’s spring 2018 collection, a reboot of the label under brand director Daniel Hettmann and designer Angelo van Mol. To celebrate the pop-up shop, Fred Segal and Liberty Fairs will co-host a comedy night with Band of Outsiders on Thursday at The Laugh Factory, the legendary club down the street from Fred Segal. This format mimics the Band of Outsiders spring 2018 presentation in London, which was presented in a comedy club by a troupe of entertainers, harkening back to the brand’s interactive presentations conceived by Sternberg, who has since left the brand. The L.A. show will feature comedians Jonathan Kite (2 Broke Girls), Chris Rock’s brother Jordan Rock, Rell Battle and Rob Pearson.

Teen Vogue Names New Executive and Deputy Editors [Pret-a-Reporter Inbox]
Samhita Mukhopadhyay has been named the new executive editor of Teen Vogue, while Ella Cerón has been promoted to deputy editor, the online publication announced Monday. Mukhopadhyay was previously the senior editorial director of culture and identities at Mic, the millennial-focused news site, where she led the teams responsible for the site’s groundbreaking coverage on Standing Rock, the Movement for Black Lives, Islamophobia, trans issues and sexual assault on college campuses. Earlier in her career, she served as executive editor of Feministing.com. Mukhopadhyay is also the co-editor of Nasty Women: Feminism, Resistance and Revolution in Trump’s America, and the author of Outdated: Why Dating is Ruining Your Love Life. “I am honored and excited to help lead this vibrant and inspired team to expand and deepen their coverage on everything from body positivity, fashion, pop culture, Black Lives Matter, college sexual assault, and more,” said Mukhopadhyay in a statement. Prior to her promotion, Cerón served as Teen Vogue’s digital West Coast and evening editor. Former Teen Vogue editor-in-chief Elaine Welteroth left the publication earlier this year and signed with CAA to expand her opportunities in film, TV and branding.
Bon-Ton Files for Bankruptcy [NBC News]
The Bon-Ton department store chain, which operates 260 stores in 24 states, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and is exploring a sale of all or part of the company. The Pennsylvania-based firm operates stores under its own name as well as the Boston Store, Carson’s, Younkers, Herberger’s and Elder-Beerman. According to a recent regulatory filing, Bon-Ton indicated that it was in talks with debt holders about restructuring its $1 billion in debt. The company had announced in November that it would shut dozens of stores in 2018, and this week it specified 42 locations across the country, most of them in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Indiana. Bon-Ton joins several dozen retailers, including Toys R Us, Payless ShoeSource and Gymboree Corp., that have filed for reorganization over the past year.
