London Fashion Week and London Fashion Weekend Now “London Fashion Week Festival” [WWD]
The British Fashion Council has decided to rebrand London Fashion Week, during which brands like Burberry and Topshop show their collections, and London Fashion Weekend, the ticketed event that was aimed more at consumers, as one fashion-filled extravaganza: London Fashion Week Festival. The council’s decision was a direct response to the rise of the “see-now, buy-now” shows (which were especially popular in London last season) and the “increasingly big appetite from both brands and public to open up our industry.”
MAC Aids Fund and Caitlyn Jenner Partner to Raise Money for Transgender Community [Pret-a-Reporter Inbox]
MAC Cosmetics’ philanthropic arm, the MAC Aids Fund, and Caitlyn Jenner announced that they have raised $1.3 million in funds since partnering in April 2016. They will donate the money to 21 different transgender organizations throughout the country. The partnership kicked off earlier this year with the release of the “Finally Free” limited-edition lipstick created by Jenner; 100 percent of proceeds were given to the fund’s Transgender Initiative.
Brooks Brothers Buys Alexis Bittar Jewelry [WWD]
Through its subsidiary Carolee, Brooks Brothers has acquired Brooklyn-based jewelry label Alexis Bittar, a brand whose celebrity fans include Cameron Diaz and Kim Kardashian. The acquisition is in line with the company’s increased focus on womenswear. Earlier this year, the first Zac Posen-designed women’s collections landed in stores. The businesses will continue to operate independently.
Heidi Klum’s Jessica Rabbit Costume Took Two Hours and Four Men to Remove [The Cut]
Halloween’s reigning queen, Heidi Klum, is known for going the extra mile to achieve a standout costume. But last year’s Jessica Rabbit look may have gone too far. Klum revealed that it took two hours and four men to deconstruct the costume — including the fake boobs, butt and facial prosthetics. “You’re just butt-naked with all these dudes doing this stuff, so it’s like, ‘Oy,’ ” she said. As for this year’s look, she only hinted that it’s inspired by her German heritage and was made in Germany. Stay tuned.
