Despite some minor PR hiccups at The Honest Co., Jessica Alba‘s billion dollar business is hotter than ever. As the September cover star and “Girl-Power Icon,” the actress-turned-entrepreneur opened up to Allure about her business and those comparisons to other women who have launched projects of their own, including Reese Witherspoon, Blake Lively and, of course, her pal Gwyneth Paltrow. Like Paltrow, Alba calls the lumping together of actresses who happen to have other interests outside entertainment as “unfair.” [Allure]
Bloomingdales Loyallist customers received the gift of a lifetime after the company mistakenly sent flawed emails to members of its rewards program. Rather than listing customers’ current rewards points balance, the total of which equates to a cash reward (ie. 5,000 points is worth a $25 gift card), the retailer accidentally preceded the points total with a dollar sign, meaning Loyallists with as many as 25,000 points were given $25,000 of store credit. Bloomingdales attempted to remedy the mistake as soon as possible, however they weren’t quick enough to stop several lucky customers from having the shopping spree of a lifetime ($10,000 diamond earrings and a $5,000 watch included). The collection of sweatpants, oversized shredded sweaters, camouflage outerwear and neutral toned all-weather boots are much more accessible than the yards of nylon that covered models during his New York Fashion Week showing last February. Color us pleasantly surprised. [GQ]
