Nike Launches Performance Hijab [Quartz]
Nike’s newest buzzy product is not a sneaker, but rather a hijab for female athletes, due out next year. The garment is made of a breathable, stretchy material which helps whisk sweat away from the wearer. The length is also extended so that there is less of a chance that it will come off while the wearer is working out. “The Nike Pro Hijab has been a year in the making,” said the company in a statement, “but its impetus can be traced much further back to Nike’s founding mission, to serve athletes, with the signature addendum: If you have a body, you’re an athlete.” In light of recent political events, Nike CEO Mark Parker spoke out against President Donald Trump’s travel ban, which restricts those traveling from the Middle East; the company has also been expanding into the Middle Eastern market.

Big Sean’s endorsement deal with Puma just took a creative turn. The rapper is no longer just the global ambassador, but has also assumed the role of creative collaborator. His first exclusive collection with the activewear label is expected to drop in spring 2018. Additionally, the brand is also sponsoring his I Decided summer tour, and featuring the hip-hop star in its summer Classics campaign. Only time will tell if Big Sean’s collaboration will gain as much notoriety as Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma line, which the pop star just showed in Paris to rave reviews.
