Ever since Taylor Swift wiped her social media clean earlier this week, the internet has been watching her every move online as she’s been posting cryptic snake teasers. Then on Wednesday, she revealed the Mert & Marcus-lensed cover art for her new album Reputation, due to drop Nov. 10.
America’s sweetheart also revealed a decidedly edgier look. Swift poses in a battered-looking, loose-fitting gray sweater with a zig-zag stitch detail on her right shoulder and a chain choker necklace, looking more rebel than pop princess. She also opts for a slicked-back beachy wave rather than her perfect bob and bangs.

Swift’s sweater is from Italian label PINKO’s P_Jean collection. However, Twitter users wondered if it was a Yeezy sweatshirt. It’s unlikely that she would wear a piece designed by Kanye West, considering the two had a falling out last year after Kim Kardashian posted recordings of a conversation between her husband and Swift over the “I made that bitch famous” lyrics in the song “Famous.”
Anyone else think her sweater looks like a Kanye design? The shade of it all. Or not? Collab? I DON’T EVEN KNOW ANYMORE!

What is clear, however, is that Swift is ready to reclaim and reinvent her image with her upcoming record. She’s chosen a ripped-and-repaired look that, at least from the top half, is more grunge than glam. Swift looks like someone who has been through hell and back.
Though she has been quiet this year, save for a few posts on social media here and there, Swift recently made headlines when a jury ruled in favor of the 27-year-old in her sexual assault case against former radio DJ David Mueller. Swift released a statement after winning the trial and stated that she would be “making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.”
One of those organizations is Law and Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay’s Joyful Heart Foundation, whose mission is to “transform society’s response to sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse, support survivors’ healing and end this violence forever,” according to the website.
It will be interesting to see how Swift’s experience, and her courage in speaking out against sexual assault, affects the look she puts forth with Reputation.
