Hollywood’s rising young stars celebrated their peers at the 12th-annual Teen Vogue Young Hollywood party with Emporio Armani on Friday evening at a private residence in Beverly Hills. Actors from Modern Family, MTV’s Awkward and Pretty Little Liars mingled with drinks and hors d’oeuvres at the intimate party.
Fresh from Milan fashion week, Bella Thorne arrived in an Armani strapless glittering top with flowing black pants. Thorne, who Teen Vogue reported is working on releasing her upcoming album and penning a YA novel, expressed that women should be able to express their style and not restrict themselves to certain expectations.
“My style is more tomboy anyway, but I usually wear more dresses on the red carpet,” Thorne told reporters. “It’s not expected, and I think girls can wear pants on the red carpet, and people should not think it’s weird.”
Quvenzhane Wallis, who is the face of Armani Junior, told The Hollywood Reporter she loves wearing “princess dresses that she can twirl in.” She was excited to see Zendaya walk down the carpet in an Emporio Armani hat along the same style as Pharrell’s iconic Vivienne Westwood version.
“I think it’s pretty cool,” said Wallis of Zendaya’s hat as she arrived on the carpet.
“I put it on, and I was like, ‘I’m like Erykah Badu meets Pharrell right now,’ ” Zendaya (who was dressed head-to-toe in Armani) told THR. “I think we kind of created our own little look. It’s kind of one of those things where either you love it or you hate it.”
Modern Family was in the building as Sarah Hyland, Rico Rodriguez, Ariel Winter and Nolan Gould all attended the soiree. Winter kept it edgy but simple in a black Versus Versace dress with gold pins at the sleeves and exclaimed that although they are still young, they have matured over the years since the show’s first run.
“I used to be super annoying and play with Nerf guns with the boys, and now we’ve all kind of matured where we can just sit down and have a conversation about life and hang out,” said Winter. “We’re kind of being seen in a different light by the adults, which is nice.”
Inside the venue, Wallis let loose to the sounds of DJ Anna Lunoe and The Preatures. Hyland (who just placed a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend) lounged with two male friends in the back area of the venue in a fitted blue and red Donna Karen Runway dress before she warmed up to hitting the dance floor. Fifth Harmony chatted it up with Rodriguez and his sister Raini Rodriguez from Austin and Ally.
E.J. Johnson, #RichKids of Beverly Hills star and son of Magic Johnson, told THR how he planned to scope out the party since it was his first time attending.
“I’m going to see if I know anybody, scope out the scene, strike some elegant poses against the wall, grab a drink and then cute selfies and get to know some people,” said Johnson.
Other guests included Maude Apatow, Pretty Little Liars’ Keegan Allen, Hailee Steinfeld, Peyton List, Joe Jonas, Corinne Foxx and Awkward’s Jillian Rose Reed.
