Thandie Newton hit the 2018 Emmys red carpet in Los Angeles in a customized bubblegum-hue, one-shoulder column gown fresh off Brandon Maxwell’s Spring/Summer 2019 runway.
“It’s got a very ’60s, Diana Ross vibe to it,” says stylist Erin Walsh. “Reference wise, it’s something we’ve been wanting to do for a while with Thandie. I think the referential notes of that time period are very much part of her DNA and Brandon’s DNA.”
The actress, who is nominated as outstanding supporting actress in a drama for her role as Maeve in HBO’s Westworld, completed the look with strappy silver heels for a “disco vibe,” says Walsh. Makeup artist Georgie Eisdell amped the look up a notch with a shimmering pink eye and a subtler matching lip.
The 70th annual Emmy Awards airs live Monday, Sept. 17, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on NBC.
